Freeths’ Penny Simpson and Richard Broadbent have been named Green Ambassadors in the latest edition of The Legal 500 Green Guide.
The global benchmark for excellence in environmental and sustainability law, the Legal 500 Green Ambassadors Guide acknowledges law firms and lawyers advising on sustainability and the transition to a lower carbon economy. Freeths has featured consistently in the guide for the last three years, with Penny, Clare King and Kirstin Roberts included in 2025, and Richard and Kirstin in 2026.
Penny and Richard advise developers, commercial and private landowners, responsible bodies, entrepreneurial brokers and intermediaries, local authorities and corporate investors on how to unlock opportunities in nature-based markets. Their strategic advice helps clients develop and deliver projects involving biodiversity net gain, habitat banks, conservation covenants, species licensing, landscape recovery schemes and investment in natural capital.
Freeths’ director of responsible business Ben Churchill said: “Penny and Richard are doing exactly the kind of work that matters to our clients: helping them make sense of a fast-changing environmental landscape while keeping sight of their wider commercial ambitions.
“What’s particularly pleasing is to see Freeths represented in the Green Ambassadors Guide for a third consecutive year, highlighting the quality of people we have working across environmental, planning, natural capital and clean energy, and our increasing ability to provide joined-up support to clients in this space.”
