UK accountancy firm MHA, a member of the Baker Tilly International network, has announced its intention to acquire Baker Tilly South-East Europe in a deal valued at approximately €24 million.
The acquisition follows MHA’s recent listing on the London Stock Exchange — a bold move that signals a shift from the traditional partner-owned model and underlines the firm’s ambition for accelerated growth through strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Baker Tilly South-East Europe is a leading professional services firm with more than 400 professionals across Cyprus, Greece and the wider South-East Europe region. It provides a comprehensive suite of services, including audit, tax, advisory, legal and corporate services. This acquisition marks a key milestone in MHA’s European expansion, establishing a significant mainland presence and deepening its collaboration with an already trusted regional partner.
Rakesh Shaunak, CEO of MHA, commented: “As stated at the time of our recent IPO, strategic M&A forms a key component of our medium-term growth aspirations, and the intended acquisition of Baker Tilly South-East Europe as announced today demonstrates continued progress against our disciplined M&A roadmap. With a good understanding of both MHA and Baker Tilly South-East Europe, I believe their ambition and close strategic fit will create an even bolder organisation serving its clients and offering progression opportunities to staff. We look forward to providing a further update in due course."
Francesca Lagerberg, CEO of Baker Tilly International, added: “This acquisition is a powerful example of how collaboration within our network can unlock new opportunities for member firms, their people and their clients. MHA and Baker Tilly South-East Europe already share a close working relationship, and this step deepens their strategic alignment. It’s a move that enhances their combined capabilities while reinforcing the strength and cohesion of the Baker Tilly network.”
